LexisNexis offers content-enabled solutions for workflows that help a range of professionals. There are two versions of the website: one for legal and professional solutions, and one for risk solutions. LexisNexis prides itself on combining analytics, technology, and business and legal information to help clients advance, as well as to help the rule of law worldwide.
Thanks to its use of analytics, however, LexisNexis gathers and uses information on a range of people. Not everyone is comfortable with the use of this information, which is why there is a LexisNexis opt out process. Following the process will allow you to rest easy, knowing that your information will not be shared or used by LexisNexis.
How to Opt Out of LexisNexis
Keep in mind that the LexisNexis opt out process only applies in certain situations. Specifically, you will only be able to remove most of the information if you are an identity theft victim or at risk of experiencing physical harm. However, anyone can remove some of the information. The following steps will guide you through this process:
1. Go directly to the LexisNexis opt out form at https://optout.lexisnexis.com/. Click “Next”.
2. Read through the instructions & click “Next”.
3. Select an Opt Out reason from the dropdown menu & click “Next”.
If you select “I am at risk of physical harm” or ” I am a victim of identity theft”, then you will need to provide the police jurisdiction, report number of your case, and a copy of the police report.
4. Fill in the form, including your first and last name. Click “Add person”.
Your social security number is optional, but it can help ensure the correct record is suppressed. You can add more than one person at this step.
5. Enter your full mailing address. Then click “Add address”.
You can add more than one address at this step.
6. Add a preferred method of communication for LexisNexis to contact you with followup information. Click “Confirm request”.
Select “Do not send postal mail” if you prefer to not receive any communication to the provided mailing addresses.
7. This completes the opt out process. Record the confirmation number in case you need to follow up with LexisNexis.
It take up to 30 days for LexisNexis to review your request and remove the information from their site. They may reach out to gather further information before processing the removal. If you do not hear from them within follow days, follow up with their support team at their privacy hotline: 1-800-831-2578.
Remember, the above process only applies to LexisNexis. Your information is on other data brokers. This requires you to either identify and opt out of each data broker individually or you can have our software handle the work for you.
