BrandYourself Wins Top Startup Award at SXSW
Hey everyone,
For those of you who’ve been following, we competed last week as one of the finalists in the annual SXSW start-up accelerator competition. SXSW is the largest web tech conference in the world, with over 20,000 attendees coming from around the globe to learn and demonstrate the latest innovations in web, media and marketing technologies. The Startup Accelerator is one of the main staples of the event, where people watch some of the latest startups present their products and technologies in front of a panel of judges made up of celebrities and successful tech veterans.
This year, 40 finalists out of a pool of 650 companies competed in the Accelerator, separated into 8 different categories. Each category competed against each other in front the crowd/judges until a final list of 18 startups were chosen to present in the finals. At the end of the competition, the judges chose an award winner for each category and then an overall award winner for the best overall “bootstrapped” start up in the competition, meaning the company who’s made the most progress with the most promise given the resources of a startup.
We were named the overall winner of the Best Bootstrapped Startup in SXSW. We were hoping to win the award for our category but certainly not expecting to win the overall award.
This is a testament to our product, but, more than anything else, to the important problem we solve for people. We couldn’t imagine a better way to end the first week after our launch. We are more excited then ever to keep moving forward with our product and putting it in more people’s hands.
